KANE vs The Miz & Morrison: Non-Title Match

photo: courtesy wwe.com

Tuesday, May 27, 2008 - Colorado Springs, CO

source: WWE.com - As May comes to an end, the world of sports-entertainment is chomping at the bit like never before as the Superstars in the Land of the Extreme are aching for One Night Stand to arrive. Both the self-proclaimed “Mexican Warrior” and Mr. Money in the Bank looked to gain an edge heading into Sunday’s contest that would determine the No. 1 Contender to Kane’s gold as Night of Champions.

This night’s main event pit the ECW Champion against the WWE Tag Team Champions in a Handicap Match. The Miz looked to defeat Kane for the second consecutive week while John Morrison hoped to overpower the Big Red Machine and make the other hopeful No. 1 Contenders sweat.

Kane dominated the WWE Tag Champs early in the match even as Miz & Morrison tried to wear him down tagging in and out and working him over with kicks and punches in their corner. After surviving a double team clothesline, Kane begins to take Miz apart when Morrison gets involved. Kane goes up-top to execute the flying clothesline following with a dual chokeslam on both men. Miz and Morrison kick out of the chokehold and begin to beat on Kane when the ref calls for a DQ.

Suddenly all of the participants of the One Night Stand Singapore Cane match are in the ring and Kane, along with Big Show, begin to clean house. In the end, the two goliaths are alone in the ring, staring each other down as the show closes.

KANE vs The Miz: Non-Title Match

photo: courtesy wwe.com

Tuesday, May 20, 2008 - DES MOINES, Iowa

source: WWE.com - 48 hours after their tag match at Judgment Day, The Miz met ECW Champion Kane on Tuesday night. Despite a list of injuries Miz took time before the match to list - a concussion, sore back, stiff neck and constant headaches - he none the less was ready to seek retribution for being brutally chokeslammed by the Big Red Machine at Judgment Day, and this time he meant to beat Kane.

Kane immediately attacked Miz and started beating on his injured body parts. Not a great idea to announce your injuries to the world just before facing Kane - Good point mad by Adamle. Miz tried to make a comeback, but Kane dumped him to the floor where Miz rammed him back-first into the ringpost. Back in the ring, Miz worked on Kane's back and upper neck and Kane countered with a sidewalk slam for a nearfall. After nailing a flying clothesline, Kane called for the end, but Miz elbowed out of a chokeslam grip, which seemed to piss Kane off to no end. He laid into Miz then hung him upside down in the corner and tried to snap his neck. Ref reached a five count and he DQ'ed Kane for not breaking in the corner. Before The Miz could even realize his DQ victory, let alone celebrate, The Big Red Machine chokeslammed him ring center then set about placing his neck in a steel chair, but Morrison slid in to save his partner from Kane's wrath.

At the beginning of the night, Estrada set up the tag match as a preview of the Singapore Cane Match at One Night Stand – where every active former ECW Champion will compete to determine the No. 1 Contender to Kane’s ECW Championship at Night of Champions on June 29th. John Morrison & Chavo Guerrero teamed up against CM Punk & Tommy Dreamer in a tag match that was interrupted in a “Big” way when Big Show stormed into the arena to remind everyone that he himself is also a former ECW Champion and should have been invited to compete in the match. Angered by ECW General Manager Armando Estrada’s faux pas, the World’s Largest Athlete took out his aggression on the ring full of champions. First, he viciously chokeslammed Chavo and CM Punk, and then tossed Morrison across the ring like a rag doll. Finally, after declaring he will once again be ECW Champion, Big Show chokeslammed ECW Original Tommy Dreamer to the canvas. Now, with the World’s Largest Athlete added into the mix, the competition just got a heck of a lot bigger – 400 more pounds.

WWE JUDGMENT DAY PPV

WWE Tag-Team Championship Match

Sunday, May 18, 2008 - Omaha, NE

From wwe.com - After their tag team victory against Chavo Guerrero & Bam Neely, Kane & Punk realized what a force they could be. They immediately challenged the WWE Tag Team Champions to a match at Judgment Day, as first seen in an AT&T Mobile exclusive video.

Kane & Punk were in control for the majority of the PPV match, but the tables quickly turned as the Big Red Machine chokeslammed The Miz outside the ring, and the Straightedge Superstar was distracted long enough for Morrison to take advantage and hit Punk with the Moonlight Drive to set up the three-count and the win.

Despite their Judgment Day loss, the Big Red Machine and the Straightedge Superstar have golden days ahead. No one has come close to taking Kane’s ECW Championship away from him since he won it at WrestleMania XXIV. Meanwhile, CM Punk still has a firm grasp on the briefcase he earned at WrestleMania in the Money in the Bank Ladder Match.

KANE vs The Miz

Tuesday, May 13, 2008 - Grand Rapids, MI

source: WWE.com - In a preview of sorts of Sunday’s Judgment Day, WWE Tag Team Champions The Miz & John Morrison individually faced Mr. Money in the Bank CM Punk and ECW Champion Kane, respectively. Punk's earlier loss to The Miz seemed to ratchet Morrison's confidence level up, but where The Miz faced Punk without his partner at ringside, Morrison had company.

Miz's constant interference in the match soon had Mr. Money in the Bank coming to ringside to even the score. In the ring, Morrison went to work on Kane's legs to chop down the tree then took him to the corner and wrapped his leg around the ringpost. The action went to the mat where blows rained until Morrison went back to Kane's leg.

Kane rallied, getting to his feet to landing a series of uppercuts on Morrison before hitting a sidewalk slam, then executing a flying clothesline off the top rope on one good leg. As Kane called for the chokeslam, Miz tried to get involved, which led to a brawl on the floor with Punk. Morrison used the distraction to smash Kane with a Tag-Team title belt and followed with a springboard roundhouse kick to take Kane down and claim the pin and win.

Punk tried to save Kane from a double-team beating, but Miz gave Punk the Reality Check while Morrison punted Kane in the head to close the show.

Championship Chase to Judgment Day on SmackDown!

photo: courtesy wwe.com

Friday, May 9, 2008 - London, Ontario

source: Mitch Passero wwe.com - After stripping Undertaker of the World Heavyweight Championship last Friday, SmackDown General Manager Vickie Guerrero declared The Deadman would have an opportunity to regain the gold in less than two weeks at Judgment Day. To determine his opponent, the GM set up the Championship Chase to Judgment Day.

In the first qualifying match for the main event, Mr. Money in the Bank CM Punk faced United States Champion Matt Hardy. Hardy defeated Punk to advance.

The next qualifier pit MVP and Finlay against one another. With a controversial finish, both men were awarded the pin & the GM both would advance to the main event.

For the third match in the Chase, Batista went one-on-one with Morrison and Batista moved on.

Big Show and Tommy Dreamer were the next to vie for a spot in the main event. The ECW Original gave it his all, but fell to The World’s Largest Athlete, as Big Show defeated Dreamer to move on in the Chase.

The final qualifier was a WrestleMania XXIV rematch between ECW Champion Kane and Chavo Guerrero. Despite interference from Bam Neely on the outside, the Big Red Machine was again able to top the Mexican Warrior and move one step closer to facing his brother at Judgment Day.

After winning the hard-fought qualifying matches, the six competitors - Kane, Big Show, Batista, Finlay, Hardy and MVP - battled it out in the Over-the-Top-Rope Challenge to declare the final winner. Each man showing fatigue, they all pushed themselves to the breaking point, with an opportunity at SmackDown’s most prestigious title hanging in the balance.

It came down to three men: Kane, Batista and Big Show. Kane and Big Show battle it out before Big Show eliminated Kane and then there were two. Big Show smirked as he went to eliminate The Animal, but Batista pulled him over instead, as the fans erupted with cheers. But before Batista could celebrate, fans learned Edge had "just" been medically cleared, and would be a part of the Championship Chase, yeah, the one that had just ended. A thoroughly taxed Batista was speared through the ropes and a rematch of last month's PPV is now slated for Judgment Day. Yea

WWE JUDGMENT DAY PPV: KANE Looking to Add to Gold?

image: courtesy wwe.com

Wednesday, May 7, 2008
source: wwe.com - As first revealed to WWE Mobile on AT&T subscribers in an exclusive mobile video, ECW Champion Kane & Mr. Money in the Bank CM Punk will take on WWE Tag Team Champions The Miz & John Morrison for the tag titles at Judgment Day.

During a locker room interview with Lena Yada, the ECW Champion and Mr. Money in the Bank issued a challenge to Miz & Morrison. The tandem's challenge came about after their victory over Chavo Guerrero & Bam Neely on the 100th episode of ECW on Sci Fi.

After the Bell . . .

Kane and CM Punk are shown backstage with Lena Yada.

Lena: Kane, CM Punk - Earlier tonight you defeated Guerrero & Bam Neely. Because of that victory, you have been granted a WWE Tag Team match against The Miz and John Morrison at Judgment Day.

Punk: That's awesome news. So at Judgment Day there's two . . . three opportunities. First one being to get my hands on Miz and Morrison - everyone likes beating those guys up. The second one - you and I, Kane, can become WWE Tag Team Champions.

Kane nods and grins. Punk stares up at him with a 'don't-shoot-the-messenger' expression -

Third one?

Punk holds up the Money in the Bank briefcase. Kane smiles.

Kane: You know Punk, at Judgment Day, we're gonna have a real good night. So don't spoil it for yourself, ok?

Punk nods as Kane looks pointedly at the briefcase in Punk's hands then at the ECW Championship Title Belt slung over his own shoulder and gives Punk a tight little smile.

KANE & C.M. Punk vs Chavo & Bam Neely, Tag Team Match

photo: courtesy wwe.com

Tuesday, May 6, 2008 - London, Ontario

source: wwe.com - ECW Champion Kane & CM Punk earned a win against Guerrero & Bam Neely in tag team action, where the odds were even.

Just one week earlier, the self-proclaimed “Mexican Warrior” got to feel what it was like to pin the ECW Champion when he and Neely defeated Kane in a Handicap Match. This time, though, Chavo and his bruising bodyguard had their hands full with not only the Big Red Machine, but Mr. Money in the Bank as well. The champion and potential title holder picked up the victory when Punk covered Guerrero for the three-count.

Guerrero has long been looking for a way to get the better of Kane. Since Kane embarrassed him in a mere eight seconds and took the ECW Title at WrestleMania XXIV, the “Mexican Warrior” has been searching for a method to overcome the monster. Only while outnumbering the ECW Champion has he found any success.

Kane found himself the victim of multiple attacks leading up to Backlash. The ECW Champion proved those eight seconds at The Granddaddy of Them All was no fluke, however, when he pinned Chavo in a second match for the gold.

In addition to Kane’s success, WrestleMania XXIV was a big night for CM Punk. The Straightedge Superstar earned the title of Mr. Money in the Bank and can exercise his winnings at any time for any championship opportunity through WrestleMania XXV in Houston. Those options include the ECW Championship held by his tag team partner from Tuesday night.

In ECW’s tag team battle, the squared circle featured several Superstars with gold on their minds. Will Kane & Punk be able to coexist should they be asked to team up again? Or will the ECW Title stand between them? And is Bam Neely the solution for Chavo overpowering the Big Red Machine?
